Chinese government enhanced import & export foods’ risk monitoring and control, improved food safety
BEIJING, Jan.7 (Zhongxin) – In 2009, Chinese quality inspection system enhanced the import and export food safety supervision, said Wang Yong, the director of the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine (AQSIQ). Total 10,640 food export companies have been inspected, 706 food producers were deprived of export licenses, 361 companies’ export licenses were temporary stopped. More than 99 percent of foodstuffs exported from China passed border quality checks, according to the AQSIQ.
National working conference of AQSIQ was hold in Beijing. In the key report, Wang Yong said, nowadays, Chinese quality inspection system has built up a rule of regular meeting on inspection. 70 kinds of food, 172 items, 14,000 samples, 83 categories, 536 specifications, 460,000 batches of import and export foods and food additives are under risk monitoring and control. Chinese food safety situation has been improved by this measurement.
Wang Yong said, in food production and import-export, we pushed a food-safety campaign in order to avoid food safety hidden dangers and make food producers fully understand their responsibility. In 2009, China revoked 6,045 food production licenses from 5,654 producers in the national campaign, 127 export food companies who got out of line was added in the blacklist. Meanwhile, China has been tightening controls on import & export foods. From 85 countries, total 33 categories, 9,755 batches unqualified foods have been checked out and conducted.
It is said that, in order to make sure Hong Kong & Macau food and agricultural products’ safety and stably supply, Guangdong, Shenzhen, Zhuhai, and Hunan AQSIQ intensified inspections on the animals & plants’ Phytophthora disease and Pesticide Residues which will export to Hong Kong & Macau.
